Easter; Now What?
What a wonderful Holy Week/Easter celebration all of us enjoyed at Holy Cross MCC. Energy was building all through the week for all that would be offered for us to experience during this final week of Lent. From Good Friday all the way through the end of the day on Sunday, the presence of Spirit blessed us and we were amazed. I would so love to list a complete list of people who deserve our gratitude during these weeks. However, for concern over leaving one out, I will not do that here. Thanks to all of you who made this Easter one that we will always remember.
Our attendance was spectacular. It felt so good to be in a church filled to overflowing with people excited about worshipping here. I hope you will continue to invite and bring your family and friends to join you at Holy Cross MCC. We’re working constantly to improve our worship and everything we do here not just for us, but for the entire community. I hope to see each one of you here often.
Speaking of planning, this coming Sunday after church I will be meeting with all Ministry Team Leaders. We will do some “getting to know you” activities and we will look at our plan for the next quarter of the church year. If you’re the leader of a team (committee), or if you’re just interested in what we will do, please join us in the sanctuary immediately following the Fellowship Meal. If your team has an event planned over the next quarter – or even later in the year – please bring that information to the meeting, too. We want to make sure everything is on our calendar and that every event is properly promoted. Remember, this coming Sunday, right after the Fellowship Meal.
Luau Bingo is this Friday evening beginning at 6:30PM. There will be food, fun, fellowship and lots of good prizes. Come support our Social Team and our church while enjoying fellowship with the Holy Cross community. I look forward to seeing you here.
So, Easter has come and gone for another year, correct? Absolutely not. In our liturgical year we celebrate an entire season of Easter. As a matter of fact, there are seven Sundays in the season of Easter this year – it’s far from over. This Sunday’s sermon is “So Send I You.” Next Sunday is “We Speak to Nations.” The following week is, “Laying it Down for Jesus.” All of these sermons will focus on ways we can move forward as a Resurrection People, living in the light of God’s amazing love for us. We’ll also start a new Book Study this month, based on Don Miguel Ruiz’s book The Four Agreements. You may order the book from Amazon. Also, this is one that your local bookstore is likely to carry, if you prefer purchasing it there. Our dates will be April 22, 29, May 6 and 13. Just four weeks this time. In addition to the course offering at church, I am seeking a host in the Navarre, Ft. Walton area. If you’re interested in hosting a small group for the same study and live in that area, please get in touch with me soon. We want to provide Bible/Life Study opportunities for our members and friends living far and wide. Thank you.
Thanks for all your participation – time, talent, treasure and truth – in the ministry of Holy Cross MCC. It’s always better…together.
