Honoring Veterans, Boundaries for Church Leaders and a Thanksgiving Invitation
Dear Holy Cross Members and Friends:
It was such a pleasure for all of us to honor our Holy Cross MCC of Pensacola Veterans this morning. Because of our proximity to Naval Air Station Pensacola, Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlbert Field, we are blessed with an unusually large number of Veterans in our congregation. We very much appreciate their service, and particularly that of those who served in closets where they were forced to hide their own identity while risking their very lives for all of us. At the end of service, these brave women and men lined the lobby of the church so each one of us could thank them for their service. When you see a Veteran this week, offer a word of thanks, buy then a cup of coffee or even a meal. Do something to show your gratitude for their dedication to freedom and justice for ALL.
Next Sunday at noon Holy Cross MCC of Pensacola will offer Boundaries for Church Leaders. This is required training for all Ministry Team Leaders, Board Members, Staff Members, Trustees and Lay Delegates. The training is also open to all members and friends of Holy Cross MCC. At the end of the training, each leader will be asked to sign a Covenant of Leadership which will go into effect on the same date. Thanks so much for your participation in this training. We hope it will help make Holy Cross MCC a safer place for all of us. You may register for the course at https://www.facebook.com/events/1517793131875905/
I want to invite you to Thanksgiving Lunch. Holy Cross MCC of Pensacola will offer a free Community Lunch on Thanksgiving Day, November 26, from noon until 2. The church will provide Turkey, Ham, Desserts and Drinks. Those who participate are asked to bring their favorite holiday side dish, with enough to share. Those who are unable to bring a dish are still encouraged to join us in this Thanksgiving celebration with the Holy Cross MCC community. For more information, please contact the church office at email@example.com. If you plan to join us, please register at https://www.facebook.com/events/1270233376334758/.
Borrowing the words MCC Founder Rev. Troy Perry said to me years ago, “There is a place for you in our church.” Come and see what God is doing at Holy Cross MCC of Pensacola. We’re moving forward as “A Christ-centered church of inclusion, community, transformation and justice. You are loved. You are worthy. You are welcome. May God bless you and may God bless Holy Cross MCC of Pensacola.
