Schedule for Lent & More
We have so many wonderful events planned at Holy Cross MCC, I want to take this opportunity to highlight many of them for you. Perhaps you will print this page and place it on your refrigerator or in a prominent place where you will be reminded of each and every opportunity for us to be together and enjoy one another’s company. In light of that, I’ll keep it simple;
- Sunday February 21 After church Visitation Training
- Monday February 22 6:30PM 50 and over Affinity Group
- Wednesday February 24 6:30PM Lenten Prayer Service (each week)
- Friday February 26 3:30PM Donna Gore Memorial Service
- Sunday February 28 12:15PM Church Membership Class
- Friday March 4 6:30PM Couples Affinity Group
- Saturday March 5 2:00PM Movie Matinee at church
- Tuesday March 8 6:30PM Couples Affinity Group
- Sunday March 13 1:00PM Rev-Elect Jes Morgan Ordination Service with Rev. Elder Dr. Nancy Wilson presiding
Please watch your email, The GEM, and the Sunday announcements for more information about these exciting events. I look forward to seeing you at many of them.
Let me also take this opportunity to thank you for your faithfulness to Holy Cross MCC of Pensacola. Through your participation and financial gifts we continue to reach out and serve our community in so many ways. One result from that is the ever-increasing number of new faces joining us in worship on Sundays. I hope you’ll warmly welcome newcomers when you see them, introduce yourself to them, allow them to tell you a little bit about themselves and make sure they have a good seat. These are just some of the ways we become a “sticky church,” where every person is valued and included.
At this week’s Board of Directors meeting, we promoted Patricia Seward from the Interim Choir Director position to Choir Director. Pat’s service to our choir and to the church over the past many weeks has been amazing. She and the choir are working closely with our Praise Band as a team. Together they are providing us with some of the best music we’ve ever experienced. I’m extremely proud of the team approach we are witnessing here, and I’m pleased today to have Patricia Seward as a settled member of our leadership team. Please congratulation Pat when you see her.
For this date (February 17, as I am writing) my devotional book paraphrases Jesus saying, “For I am making you a new creation, with old things passing away and new things continually on the horizon. I want you to embrace all that I am doing in your life and find your security in me alone.” Indeed these are exciting times as we grow into God’s future for our church by practicing our Statement of Purpose each and every day, “The purpose of Holy Cross MCC is to be a Christ-centered church of inclusion, community and justice. You are loved. You are worthy. You are welcome.” May God bless you this week as you work with us to make it so…and so it is.
