A New Month of Opportunities

 In Pastor's Message

I look forward to communicating with you each week through this article in The GEM, our weekly online newsletter at Holy Cross MCC of Pensacola.  I hope you will read it all the way through and make a note of all the wonderful events happening at our church.  And by the way, thank you again for your support of the church with your time, your talent, your treasure and your truth. Ministry is at its best when we do it together.  You are loved.  You are worthy. You are welcome.

I hope you’re planning to join us for our Movie Matinee this Saturday at 2:00.  Grease is the movie of the day, and I understand there will be a costume contest to go with it – AND I’ve heard about some of the planned costumes.  Concessions will also be available.  As a bonus, The War Room will be offered as a second show.  Admission is just a $2 donation.  Come join your Holy Cross community for an afternoon of flicks, fun and fellowship.

My gratitude goes to those who have been participating in our Wednesday evening Lenten Prayer services.  We’ve had great attendance and a wonderful time sharing concerns with one another.  I invite you to join us next Wednesday at 6:30PM.  Our final session of Lenten Prayer will be offered on Wednesday, March 16 and will feature, A Cooking Meditation. During this time we will prepare a meal of delicious soup, beginning with raw vegetables, and focusing on prayer and meditation throughout.  We will finish by enjoying a meal of soup and bread together. Because of the nature of this event, we must limit the group to 20 people. A donation of $5.00 per person is also requested to cover the cost of food and supplies.  Please RSVP right away to office@holycrossmcc.com. I look forward to sharing this time with you.

Join the Holy Cross Community for the Ordination of Rev-Elect Jes Morgan on Sunday, March 13 at 1:00.  Having completed her Master of Divinity degree, and her entire MCC Clergy process, Jes is not ready to become clergy in our church. MCC Moderator (the worldwide leader of our church), Rev. Elder Dr. Nancy Wilson will be here to preside over the service.  So come to church twice that day; for our Morning Worship Celebration at 10, stay for lunch and then join with us as we ordain Jes.  A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.  The color for the day is RED, the color of celebration.  Let’s pack the church and show our love and care for both Jes and Carrie. Please RSVP to office@holycrossmcc.com so we can have enough food for everyone.  Thank you.

Thank you again for your faithfulness to the ministries of Holy Cross MCC of Pensacola.  I look forward to seeing you again this Saturday and Sunday as we join together as a community of faith.
