Happy Easter (Just a little early)
What a powerful Palm Sunday Worship Celebration! It was so exciting to see so many of you praising God, waving your palms, and letting God’s Spirit flow through you during our time together. I’m so thankful for what God is doing in and through Holy Cross MCC of Pensacola. Let’s also offer our gratitude to all our team members who serve during worship; our technical crew, musicians, ushers, acolytes, readers and prayer ministers bless us every time we come together as a family of faith. Thank you!
Holy Week is upon us as we anticipate the blessings of Easter. Here is our schedule for the week:
Thursday March 24 6:30PM Maundy Thursday Service
This is a traditional service for Holy Thursday. It includes a reenactment of Jesus washing the disciples’ feet followed by the communion meal. At the end of the service we will strip our altar in preparation for Good Friday.
Friday March 25 6:30PM Good Friday Stations of the Cross
We will use a multimedia presentation of the Stations of the Cross with readings to mark every stop on Jesus’ journey toward crucifixion. These readings also reflect a modern context for our consideration as we continue in our journey with Christ.
Sunday March 27 7:00AM Early Easter Worship in the Prayer Garden
This service will be led by Dr. Gail Atchison and will include music, readings a homily and communion. Sunrise is predicted for 6:43AM that day, so we will be right on time for our celebration of a brand new day. Please bring a lawn chair with you.
10:00AM Easter Morning Worship Celebration
11:30AM Easter Potluck Luncheon
Bring a dish of your favorite Easter food with enough to share. Donation of disposable plates, cups, napkins and utensils also welcome. Stay after church and enjoy a beautiful time of food and fellowship with the Holy Cross MCC family where all are welcome.
Your Board and I are also encouraging our members and friends to bring an “over and above” Easter offering this Sunday. This is a contribution in addition to our regular tithes and offerings. Help us maintain a fully funded and fully active church ministry. “Why is an emphasis on giving necessary,” you might ask. Here are some of the items that we regularly pay for – communion hosts, grape juice, offering envelopes, electricity, phones, internet, bowls, plates, napkins, paper towels, cleaning supplies, hand soap, sheet music, microphone cables, equipment maintenance, cleaning services, staff salaries, food for our outreach ministries, copy paper and so much more. So I ask you again to come this week with a special Easter Offering to help fully fund the ministry to which God has called us, and pray with us that God will bring a financial blessing to Holy Cross MCC of Pensacola.
We are in immediate need of volunteers to work with our Children’s Sunday School. If you are interested in joining this important team, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or see Deb Brande in the church office. This position does require a background screening. Help us train up our children in the ways they should go.
I look forward to seeing you in church all through this week. Have a blessed Holy Week and a glorious Easter.
