Gotta Have Faith
Thanks so much for the warm welcome you showed our guests, Justin Ryan and Scott Bryant last weekend. Your love and hospitality toward them was remarkable and certainly was appreciated. Thank you for the way you embrace our guests every week – they’re very important to us as we build the kin-dom of God here in Pensacola.
This Saturday morning we will offer our annual pet blessing here at church. We’ll kick off the morning with Square Dancing Dogs at 9:45. I’ve seen this group one time before and thought they were just a hoot. It will be worth showing up just to watch them. After their performance, I’ll be blessing animals from 10 – 12. What kind of animals? Well, that’s up to you. Just a note – if your animal has a behavior issues around other animals, it’s up to you to keep her/him under control, on a leash or in a kennel. By doing this, we can make sure everyone has a great time. I look forward to seeing many of you with your furry family members this Saturday morning.
There’s so much going on this Sunday – you won’t want to miss it. We’ll be baptizing 2 people near the beginning of our service – we’ll try on a new way of doing this, so be prepared to participate when we call on you to do so. We’ll recognize October birthdays and anniversaries. Our Praise Band will be back leading our worship, we’ll receive 5 new members into membership and we’ll enjoy communion together. My sermon for this week is called, “Lessons on Faith,” and “Faith” will be our theme throughout the service. What does faith mean to you? How do you demonstrate it? What are the results of it? And, how do our lives change when we fail to practice it? Consider this brief gospel reading from Luke, Chapter 15,
“The apostles said to Jesus, “Increase our faith.” The Teacher said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you would tell this sycamore tree, ‘Be uprooted, and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.”
Let’s all come together and consider “Faith,” and bring some friends with you.
There are so many good things happening around our church. I encourage you to check out the church calendar, read each week’s issue of The GEM, listen to the announcements, watch us on Facebook, and remain fully informed about all the opportunities available to each one of us. If you have questions, contact the church office and we will do our best to clarify.
Have a wonderful weekend and I’ll see you in church.
