I hope this issue of The GEM finds you doing well and remembering from last Sunday’s sermon that you are blessed by God, that you belong to God, and that you are consecrated by God. That’s very good news for people like us who seek to know God better and to climb the ladder of the Beatitudes while getting to know this x-ray picture of the heart of God.
My personal gratitude goes out to all of those who made our 40th anniversary and volunteer appreciation banquet possible last Friday night. Thanks also to each one of you who participated in the evening’s activities. We had a wonderful time celebrating together and honoring our volunteers who make the Ministry of Holy Cross MCC possible every day of the year. All those who attended the banquet received a special commemorative 40th anniversary pin. We’ll be using the same logo to create T-shirts in the very near future. For more information about ordering your T-shirt please see Waylon Bailey this weekend. In just a few weeks will have “wear your new T-shirt to church Sunday.” I hope everyone who can will participate.
Our church has a history of offering small group opportunities to its members and friends. Since we have experienced renewed interest in small groups over the past few weeks, we will be offering a small group forum on Wednesday evening, July 5, at 6:30 PM. If you have any interest at all in leading or joining a small group, please be here to join us for this planning and organizing session.
Thanks very much to all of you who have expressed concern since my surgery this past Monday. Although the condition of my arm turned out to be more complicated than originally thought, my doctor believes the surgery was successful and that we are on the right track. I believe I am healing well, although the pain has been somewhat challenging. Please keep me and others who are healing from medical treatment in your prayers throughout this week. I will be with you on Sunday.
This Sunday morning. We continue our summer worship series “Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine,” with a sermon called “Blessed Assurance of Comfort.” We will also include moment of remembrance for Independence Day in the United States. Feel free to join us by wearing your red white and blue to church this Sunday.
Thanks for all you do to keep the Ministry of Holy Cross MCC both fully active and fully funded. It’s amazing what we can do together as we follow God’s mission for our church. May God bless you and may God continue to bless Holy Cross MCC.
