I very much appreciate this opportunity to communicate with you, the members and friends of Holy Cross MCC. We want to make sure every one of us is fully informed about all the ministries happening around our church campus and in the community. Thanks for your faithfulness in reading The GEM!
We had another amazing Sunday of worship and fellowship together. I hope you felt the strong and gentle movement of the Spirit throughout the day here. We had a very good meeting with our Ministry Team Leaders and look forward to the excellent cooperation that will flow out of that group. Thanks also to those who provided our Fellowship Meal. So many people contribute around here, I’m continuously reminded of the phrase I learned for my good friend The Rt. Rev. Grant Lynn Ford, “Everything is better when we do it…together.”
Our book study of The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz has now begun. The study will last a total of 4 weeks. This study is based in the ancient Toltec philosophy and can serve as an enhancement of our Christian faith. These agreements are challenging and well-worth the work it takes to incorporate them into our lives. The text is available at www.amazon.com or more than likely at your local book store. Come try it on next Wednesday at 7:00PM.
There are several wonderful fellowship opportunities in the works for the Holy Cross MCC Community. Watch for detailed information about the upcoming Walt Disney World trip. Another group is beginning to work on a proposal for a cruise that we might do together in 2016. Our Music Team is working on a special program and our Social Team is working to provide monthly activities that serve as both fellowship and fundraisers. It is important for a community of faith like us to spend time enjoying each other’s company. Be here every time you can.
We’ll be training ushers this Sunday afternoon. For those who have served for a long time, this will be a refresher. For those who want to “try on” the role of usher, this will be a thorough introduction. We will begin at about noon on Sunday, in the sanctuary. Come join with us if you feel that you might be called to this ministry.
We believe, after much work, that we have worked the bugs out of our ClearGive system. Check out this video that will give a basic overview of the system. ClearGive Video. You may go online and set up an account or you can see a member of our Board of Directors in the church lobby on Sunday. Soon we’ll expand our use of the system by registering for events, registering attendance, offering tickets to special events, and so much more. Please take some time now to become familiar with it and let us know if you need help. Thank you!
Join us this coming Tuesday, April 21, at 7:00PM for an Equality Florida Town Hall Meeting on Marriage Equality. The entire community is being invited and we hope to have a large crowd. Come represent Holy Cross MCC with us and help welcome all our guests. This Sunday’s sermon is called, “We Speak to Nations.” We will continue responding to the question, “We celebrated Easter, now what?” We remember God’s call to spread the message of the gospel in Samaria, Judea, Jerusalem and the ends of the earth. What does that mean for us, how will be accomplish it and what is each person’s role in it? Come and bring some friends this Sunday. I look forward to seeing you then.
